Tyler Mitchell - I Can Make You Feel Good | 19 April - 5 June

Tyler Mitchell's visualisation of a 'black utopia' captures young black people in gardens, parks or idyllic studio backdrops where they appear free, expressive, effortless, sensitive and proud. With the use of candy colour palettes and natural light, his holistic imagery brings forth the humanity of individuals from his community. The utopia that Mitchell creates, makes one realize how highly it contrasts with the way reality is represented. His exhibition is shown at Foam from 19 April until 5 June 2019.

Join us for the opening of the exhibition Tyler Mitchell - I Can Make You Feel Good | 19 April - 5 June, in the presence of the artist, on Thursday 18 April, from 17.30 hrs.

Tyler Mitchell is seen as one of the most closely watched up-and-coming talents in photography today. Having made history by being the first black photographer to make the cover American Vogue's 'September Issue', featuring Beyonce, in the 126-year existence of the prominent magazine. Only adding to the value of his already impressive accomplishments and artistic work.

The exhibition contains images from the artists’ work, both personal and commissioned, and premieres two of Mitchell’s video works: Idyllic Space and Chasing Pink, Found Red. With these audiovisual installations, the artist explores a sense of play and childlike freedom for black youths.

⇨ The exhibition will be on show from 19 April to 5 June 2019. Find more information about this exhibition on foam.org/tylermitchell
