Now that most of the original program has been cancelled and our trusted locations are busy making 1,5 meter plans, Amsterdam Roots moves this years festival to a new online space.

From 25 to 28 June 2020, Amsterdam Roots Festival will present, together with artists and partners, a multidisciplinary online program in which roots and identity are central themes. The events vary from online concerts, Zoom circus and dance workshops, storytelling performances, debate and an urban dance battle-workshop-performance-show.

On Thursday 25th of June we open with a program live from Compagnietheater, in which we explore new definitions of roots and identity through performance, poetry and discussion. Focus will be on the so-called Third Culture Kids: a generation that grew up between their parents’ culture and the one of the land where they were born and raised.
